Update: the drill has taken place – read the follow-up report.

Blue lights, engine noise and plenty of emergency crews: on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, from 7 p.m. Campingplatz Hetzingen turns into a training ground for the fire brigade of the town of Nideggen for one evening.

The last time this important drill took place was in autumn 2021 – now it is time again. The focus is on local knowledge: the firefighters train every corner of the site so that, in a real emergency, the vehicles don't lose a single second. That can be decisive in stopping a fire – for example on a burning caravan – from spreading across the whole site.

That evening they will also practise the rescue of helpless people – up close and realistic. For this we are still looking for two volunteers who would like to be “rescued” by the fire brigade team. Fancy a real adventure and a look behind the scenes? Get in touch with us!

The drill deliberately takes place on a Wednesday evening – the fire brigade's regular training day, so that the weekend stays free for the crews and their families.
