Camping all year round: tips for autumn & winter

Autumn forest by the Rur – year-round camping in the Eifel

Camping is no longer just a summer thing. Colourful forests in autumn, crisp winter air and far more peace and quiet on site – the cold season has a charm all of its own.

Gear for the cold season

A warm sleeping bag, good insulation underneath, warm clothing in layers and a safe heating solution are key. If you arrive in your own caravan, keep an eye on heating, gas supply and moisture inside.

Cosy rather than chilly

If tenting in winter is too cold for you, a solid, heatable accommodation is the comfortable alternative: glamping in autumn and winter combines the outdoors with a warm retreat. After a walk, a sauna warms you up nicely.

All year round by the Rur

Campingplatz Hetzingen is open all year round – including Whitsun, Ascension Day and the autumn holidays. Alongside pitches there are heatable accommodations, and the modern sauna with a view of Nideggen Castle provides warmth on cool days.
