Dogs on a lead across the campsite
Please keep your dog on a lead across the whole campsite. This ensures safety and prevents dogs from getting into unexpected situations. Other guests – who may not have dogs or may be anxious – will thank you too.

Camping
Of course dogs are welcome here – for shared adventures along the Rur and in the Eifel.

For a relaxed stay
Of course dogs are allowed at our campsite! We’re glad that you and your four-legged friend are part of our community. To make sure all guests enjoy a relaxed and harmonious time, we’ve put together a few simple guidelines for dog owners.
Good manners
Please keep your dog on a lead across the whole campsite. This ensures safety and prevents dogs from getting into unexpected situations. Other guests – who may not have dogs or may be anxious – will thank you too.
Near the campsite there are beautiful nature trails that make ideal walks for you and your dog. There your dog may be allowed off the lead. Please observe the local rules and always keep your dog in sight.
Please always carry a poop bag when walking and remove your dog’s waste immediately. That keeps our campsite clean and inviting for everyone. Waste bins are available at several points.
Remember that not every dog owner is the same. Some guests may feel uneasy or be afraid of dogs. Make sure your dog stays friendly and gives other guests space. If you’re unsure how your dog might react, keep your distance.
Dogs love company! If your dog wants to play with other dogs, ask the other owners first whether that’s okay. That way everyone has fun and a positive atmosphere is created.
When camping with a dog is done right here, dogs will remain welcome at our campsite for good.
Thank you for your understanding and consideration! Together we create a relaxed atmosphere for all guests, so the stay becomes unforgettable for people and animals alike. Enjoy exploring and savouring nature!

Close to nature & dog-friendly
Planning to go camping with your dog? At Campingplatz Hetzingen in Nideggen you’re in exactly the right place if you love nature, freedom and shared adventures with your four-legged friend. Between the Rur and the Eifel you’ll find plenty of space to breathe, short routes into the green and a warm atmosphere where furry noses and people feel welcome from the very first minute. Our campsite allows dogs – with heart and good sense.
Soft forest paths, shady trails and the Rur with its calm riverbanks await right outside. For the first morning walk you do a small loop by the water; for extended tours the wide forests of the Eifel beckon. You enjoy the birdsong while your dog sniffs happily through nature – that’s what a holiday feels like. Our Rur pitches, from which you feel close to the water, are especially popular. The area around Nideggen, with its castles, rocks and sweeping views, also makes your break unforgettable.
So you both feel comfortable, we rely on clear, fair rules and a lot of consideration. Please keep your dog on a lead on the site and mind the quiet hours – that keeps things relaxed for all campers. For your walks you’ll find plenty of paths around the site; just keep bags ready and use the bins provided. Our reception team is happy to suggest dog-friendly walking routes, shady spots on warm days and outings you’ll both enjoy.
When choosing your favourite place you have several options: classic pitches for tent or caravan, generous comfort pitches with extra legroom, and our Rur pitches for everyone who loves the water. If you prefer a fixed base, ask about chalets, huts or sleeping barrels. Depending on the accommodation, four-legged friends are welcome in selected units – simply ask about the details when booking so everything fits perfectly. Long-stay pitches are also available for everyone who wants to enjoy the Eifel regularly.
A few simple tips help make camping with a dog relaxed. Set up a small comfort zone under the awning so your dog can settle. Pack a blanket, fresh water and favourite snacks, plan shady breaks on hot days and start longer tours in the morning or late afternoon. In large parts of the region dogs must be kept on a lead, especially in sensitive natural areas – this protects wildlife and ensures a respectful coexistence with other guests.
There are many things to experience around Nideggen: leisurely village strolls, scenic hikes and spots where you can relax together. Along the Rur you’ll find places that promise a cool-down on warm days, where it’s safe and permitted. For rainy days our staff are happy to recommend destinations where you’re welcome with your dog too. That turns every day into a little adventure.
Fancy simply relaxing in between? Then enjoy the quiet, green setting and the friendly atmosphere on the site. There’s plenty of room for short play moments, friendly encounters with neighbours and the joy of sitting under the stars in the evening while your dog dozes contentedly beside you. It’s exactly this mix of freedom and security that makes your break so special – warm, carefree and close to nature.
So you don’t miss anything, we’ll keep you informed on site about events in Nideggen and the Eifel as well as special offers on the site.
